  1. Can you please tell me why you use gravel other than for leveling?

  2. is it attached to the house?

  3. You did just fine with the time lapse.

  4. Thanks so much for these detailed lesson plans.

  5. I can't tell from the comments, but is the 2×6 closest to the patio door secured to house or is it a true floating deck? Thanks!

  6. I'm not sure I understand the footing.  Is the deck just resting on blocks?  How is it anchored?

  7. I love this Idea! I want to put mines in the middle of my back yard, would I have to use more bricks inside with the 2×6's? and are you using gravel or sand? Thank you so much!

  8. Unusual method with the gravel. Never seen or heard of that before. But i can see the theory. By the way the likelihood of you getting plant growth beneath is pretty much ZERO. That amount of gravel and almost zero light. There was no need for a geo fabric ( weed mat )

  9. curious how it doesnt move. is secured to the house somehow?

  10. Very nice! I'm also another individual thinking of the same project but you mentioned $1200 but I'm thinking it can get done cheaper like if you were to do the foundation from wooden pallets you would save some $$$. But overall very nicely done and well to consider. Thank you for sharing!

  11. How's it holding up so far on the patio bricks? I'm about to build a ground level deck for the first time and trying to avoid a lot of digging in Chicago.

  12. How did you put the 2×6 up against the house part? Did you elevate it on 4×4 or what? Thank you
